Traffic / Driving Etiquette

The roads here in Bangalore are a little bit crazy - I can not imagine driving here!! The traffic is usually really bad here around 9 AMish and then later at night, since the work days usually last a little bit longer here. We generally try to leave the hotel early to avoid traffic because, according to our driver, it could take up to an hour and 1/2 to get to our office if the traffic is bad (it usually takes us about 30 minutes).

Beeping your horn here has a totally different meaning than in the US. Everyone beeps constantly here and it is more of a "honk, honk, I'm coming through" rather than an insult or an angry honk. Mix that with cows, dogs, goats, people, scooters and rickshaws, and you have quite an adventure every time you get into the car!

Here is a video I took from my room after getting back to the hotel....before the traffic picks up.
